Mediterranean Maritime Research & Training CooperativeThe Mediterranean Maritime Research and Training Centre Co-operative offers hands on training and ship handling simulator training. The Training Institution was founded by the Malta Maritime Pilots with the primary objective to train Marine Pilots and conduct risk assessments for local and foreign ports. Ship Masters, Tug Masters, Ships’ Officers, Naval Officers and Cadets can also be instructed in safe Ship Handling techniques in our state-of-the-art ship handling simulator.


The Simulator is a state of the art Marin Industries (Holland) Compact Simulator. Two main, stand alone bridges are available, with the facility to operate tugs and various ship models. The Simulator has the capability to alter the environmental conditions, such as wind, current, rough seas, swell, poor visibility, rain, night or day, so as to test the individual capabilities of personnel.

Anchors and mooring lines can also be deployed, machinery and instrument failure may also be simulated when training on emergency preparedness sessions.
