Description

The Mediterranean Maritime Research and Training Centre Co-operative was founded by the Malta Maritime Pilots in 2010 with the primary objective to train Marine Pilots and conduct risk assessments for local and foreign ports. Ship Masters, Tug Masters, Ships’ Officers, Naval Officers and Cadets can also be instructed in safe Ship Handling techniques in our state-of-the-art ship handling simulator. Since May 2018, the Training Institution operates under the brand name of MaritimeMT, a change which has allowed for the Training Centre to become a hub that caters for the needs of the maritime sector through the availability of STCW Training & certification; Ship Handling courses and bespoke training, whether for seafarers or for shore-based personnel. MMRTC is fully accredited by DNV-GL as a Training Centre facility and by Transport Malta to deliver training as per STCW convention.

Training Simulator
The Full Manouver Bridge Simulator is a state-of-the-art Marin Industries (Holland) Compact Simulator. Two main, stand-alone bridges are available, with the facility to operate tugs and various ship models. The Simulator has the capability to alter the environmental conditions, such as wind, current, rough seas, swell, poor visibility, rain, night or day, so as to test the individual capabilities of personnel. Anchors and mooring lines can also be deployed, machinery and instrument failure may also be simulated when training on emergency preparedness sessions.
