The Malta Cooperative Federation has submitted its recommendations in response to the public consultation initiated by the Government of Malta regarding  Malta’s post-pandemic strategy. The document, entitled ‘Building Better Together’ is inspired by the Coops Day slogan for 2021 and outlines different proposals for a fairer society and economy through the different co-operative model. The document makes its recommendations under the various thematic questions listed in the Consultation, and makes direct reference to the co-operative model as an important tool in the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals for 2030.

MCF President John Mallia stated that this document is important as the Federation believes that an essential aspect of any successful post-covid19 strategy should be built on resilience, both socially and economically: ‘This resilience can only succeed if we build together. Co-operatives are a vital tool to achieve this’. MCF CEO and Secretary General Rolan Micallef Attard stated that the document makes its recommendations under the various thematic questions listed in the Consultation, making direct reference to the co-operative model as an important tool in the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals for 2030: ‘the co-operative model of business is key to getting there. All we need is to unlock its true potential’, he stressed.
