New book about the history of cooperatives in Malta launched
The Co-operatives Board and historian Francis Galea launched the book 'L-Istorja tal-Koperattivi f'Malta' (The history of Co-operatives in Malta) on December 04, as part of the International Year of Cooperatives celebrations in Malta. Researched and written by Francis Galea, the book narrates the history of co-operatives in Malta, since their inception in 1946 until early 2012. Members from the Malta Co-operative Federation were present at the launch event that was held at the Aula Magna, Old University in Valletta. MCF council meets Coops Board
On the 23rd November 2012, the Council Members of the Malta Co-operative Federation met the Co-operatives Board Members in Valletta. During this cordial meeting the Federation and the Board discussed issues of common interest in particular the proposal of the Federation that the Co-operative Societies Act should, in the current local economic reality allow for the minimum number of members of a co-operative society to be reduced to 3 instead of 5, in particular for worker co-operatives. Malta Co-operative Federation launched
The Malta Co-operative Federation, made up if an array of cooperatives active in diverse sectors of the economy, was launched today (Friday 9th November, 2012) in Valletta. Cooperative Banking – An alternative model of banking in Malta
The Ministry for Fair Competition & Consumer Affairs organised a half day seminar "Cooperative Banking - An Alternative model for banking in Malta". The seminar was held at the Mediterranean Conference Centre with the distinguihed participation of interational guest speakers specialised in the field as well as the Governor of the Central Bank of Malta, and other local experts.
