A number of students from the the Liceo Scientifico Arcidosso of Grosseto Italy visited the Malta Co-operative Federation in Valletta on the 18th May 2016. Mr John Mallia and Mr Rolan Micallef Attard presented a number of videos and gave an overview of the international and local scenarios of the co-operative movement. Minister Christian Cardona has recently publicly promised remedies to those who have suffered injustices.  To date the Minister has talked the talk but hasn't yet walked the walk with respect to the lack of funding to the Malta Co-operative Federation (MCF).  Meanwhile, the Central Co-operative Fund Committee, the members of which were appointed by Minister Cardona, continue to fund the other co-operative federation. Two newly registered co-operative societies join Malta Co-operative Federation

On February 2, 2016 the Council of the Malta Co-operative Federation approved two newly registered co-operative societies as new Member Societies of the Federation. Photo: Ruben Overend The Malta Co-operatives Federation’s member societies present at the AGM held on the 15th January 2016, have unanimously authorized the Federation’s Council to take all the necessary action to protect their interests and end the discrimination against MCF. The very well attended AGM of the Malta Co-operative Federation was also addressed by the Federation's lawyers Dr Leonard Caruana and Dr Michael Camilleri. Malta Maritime Pilots Co-operative President, Chief Pilot Capt Jesmond Mifsud was a guest this morning on Malta's National Television Station's Breakfast Show, TVAM. Capt. Mifsud was invited to explain the co-operative model and to illustrate the achievements of the Malta Maritime Pilots Co-operative along the years. Capt. Mifsud listed the benefits of working in a co-operative, and how the co-operative model can be an alternative business proposition for persons who want to work together in a worker co-op.
