The Malta Co-operative Federation convened its 2019 AGM on Thursday 21st February. The meeting had the following agenda: Approval of Minutes of previous General Meeting Presentation of the Financial Statements 2017 Appointment of Auditors Election of Malta Co-operative Federation Council Arising Matters The following nominees got elected to MCF Council: Mr Mario Cini, Mr Terence Farrugia, Mr John Mallia, Mr Rolan Micallef Attard and Mr Paul Muscat.

Malta Co-operative Federation Council representatives today met Dame Pauline Green at the Federation's offices in Valletta. Dame Green, who is of Maltese descent, is a former President of the ICA, the International Co-operative Federation. Dame Green was accompanied by Mr. Bob Burlton, former Chair of the Co-operative Group. During a very cordial meeting, discussions focused on the challenges and opportunities pertaining to the Maltese Co-operative movement, as well as ways of how the co-operative business model can become more relevant in the Maltese economy.

Malta Co-operative Federation President John Mallia recently delivered an information session on co-operatives as part of an Entrepreneurship training course organised by the Maltese National Council of Women. The course was open to persons evaluating the prospect of opening a business of their own, either individually or in a group. The session discussed co-operative business, the principles underlying them, co-operative enterprises in different sectors of the economy and how to set up a co-operative.
