MCF President, John Mallia, is invited to 'TVAM' a programme on the National Broadcaster, TVM, to talk about the cooperative solution to Malta's Economy. During the programme, Mallia explains the manifesto proposals the Malta Cooperative Federation has made to the political parties in the run-up to the 2022 election. He says that there seems to be a political consensus to enable the cooperative model to flourish in Malta. Watch his intervention below (the programme is in Maltese)

The Malta Cooperative Federation launched its AIMM Scheme: Assistance Initiative for MCF Members that will entitle member coops to claim up to €1000 for professional fees related to applications for EU and National Funds.Through this initiative, MCF will empower its cooperative members with finding the right funding opportunities, both at EU and national level. An MCF delegation presented its proposals to Partit Nazzjonalista for inclusion in the electoral manifesto for the upcoming general elections. The delegation met with Dr Alex Perici Calascione and with the Hon. Edwin Vassallo, MP. The document, entitled ‘Unlocking Malta’s Co-operative Potential’, is based on four pillars: Acknowledging the co-operative potential at the political level,; Strengthening the legislative framework; Providing the right environment for effective community participation,; Education and awareness that encourage the setting up of co-operatives in different sectors of the Maltese economy. MCF feels that more needs to be done in order to increase the number of cooperatives in all sectors. [...]

The Malta Cooperative Federation held a meeting with ADPD Chairperson Carmel Cacopardo and Secretary-General Ralph Cassar to discuss MCF’s electoral proposals in the run-up to the 2022 Maltese general elections. Due to Covid-19 limitations, the meeting was held virtually. MCF’s proposals aim to increase cooperative businesses in Malta and to make Malta a more cooperative society.

MCF launched its proposals for the 2022 general elections this afternoon. The proposals, entitled “Unlocking Malta’s Co-operative Potential”, were presented to Dr Daniel Micallef, Partit Laburista’s deputy leader for party affairs and Mr George Azzopardi, party CEO. The proposals are centred around four pillars: to acknowledge the potential of cooperatives at the political level; to strengthen Malta’s legislative framework; to provide the right environment for effective community participation and education and awareness. In the run-up to the 2022 general elections, MCF will embark on a campaign to promote the cooperative model among Malta’s political parties, MPs and election candidates. [...]
