MCF launches its proposals for the 2022 General Elections
MCF launched its proposals for the 2022 general elections this afternoon. The proposals, entitled “Unlocking Malta’s Co-operative Potential”, were presented to Dr Daniel Micallef, Partit Laburista’s deputy leader for party affairs and Mr George Azzopardi, party CEO. The proposals are centred around four pillars: to acknowledge the potential of cooperatives at the political level; to strengthen Malta’s legislative framework; to provide the right environment for effective community participation and education and awareness. In the run-up to the 2022 general elections, MCF will embark on a campaign to promote the cooperative model among Malta’s political parties, MPs and election candidates. [...]
MCF submits recommendations regarding Malta’s post-pandemic strategy.
The Malta Cooperative Federation has submitted its recommendations in response to the public consultation initiated by the Government of Malta regarding Malta's post-pandemic strategy. The document, entitled 'Building Better Together' is inspired by the Coops Day slogan for 2021 and outlines different proposals for a fairer society and economy through the different co-operative model. The document makes its recommendations under the various thematic questions listed in the Consultation, and makes direct reference to the co-operative model as an important tool in the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals for 2030. New Social Enterprise Act Needed for Post Pandemic Economic Recovery
The Malta Co-operative Federation welcomes the discussion about the Social Enterprise Act launched yesterday in Malta’s parliament. The Bill, now in the second reading stage, is based on a White Paper published in 2015. This legislation is vital for Malta as it provides a framework that gives official recognition status to Social Enterprises. CCF, MCF & KM sign agreement aimed at supporting the future of Coops
CCF, Koperattivi Malta, the Malta Cooperative Federation, and the Government of Malta signed an agreement aimed at supporting the future of Maltese cooperatives. This agreement also addressed injustices suffered by MCF since its inception.
MCF launches Assistance Package on World Coops Day
Today, Saturday, 4th July 2020 is International Coops Day with the theme "Cooperatives for Climate Action". To celebrate this day, the Malta Co-operative Federation this morning launched an Assistance Package for its Member co-operatives, as well as Incentives for co-operative start-ups. This package is based on the responses received from well established cooperative societies to our call for feedback some weeks ago, as well as on our experience with co-operative registrations and start-ups. Malta Boatmen Mooring Services Co-op Limited join MCF
The Malta Co-operative Federation Council enrolled the Malta Boatmen Mooring Services Co-op Limited as a new Member Society of the Federation on April 28, 2020. The MCF Council Members welcome the co-operative to the Federation. With the affiliation of the Malta Boatmen Mooring Services Co-op Limited the MCF now boasts of a strong membership base in the maritime sector.
