The Malta Cooperative Federation has submitted its recommendations in response to the public consultation initiated by the Government of Malta regarding  Malta's post-pandemic strategy. The document, entitled 'Building Better Together' is inspired by the Coops Day slogan for 2021 and outlines different proposals for a fairer society and economy through the different co-operative model. The document makes its recommendations under the various thematic questions listed in the Consultation, and makes direct reference to the co-operative model as an important tool in the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals for 2030. To celebrate this day, the Malta Co-operative Federation this morning launched an Assistance Package for its Member co-operatives, as well as Incentives for co-operative start-ups. The Malta Co-operative Federation Council enrolled the Malta Boatmen Mooring Services Co-op Limited as a new Member Society of the Federation on April 28, 2020. The MCF Council Members welcome the co-operative to the Federation.  With the affiliation of the Malta Boatmen Mooring Services Co-op Limited the MCF now boasts of a strong membership base in the maritime sector. Gender equality and women’s empowerment are challenges both within cooperatives, and in countries where cooperatives operate. Multiple barriers impose limitations on women, hindering their access to opportunities, often translating into legal restrictions that institutionalise women’s marginalisation. Eliminating those barriers that thwart gender equality is a critical target for cooperative action and a key priority for the International Cooperative Alliance and its member organisations, which aim for a genderresponsive implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
