A number of students from the am Language Studio visited the Malta Co-operative Federation on the 28th March 2014. Mr John Mallia and Mr Rolan Micallef Attard presented a number of videos and gave an overview of the international and local scenarios of the co-operative movement. The Council of the Malta Co-operative Federation has submitted its recommendations to the committee coordinating the consultation process for the changes to the Co-operative Societies Act, Cap 442. Comino Ferries Co-op Limited joins MCF
On February 27, 2014 the Council of the Malta Co-operative Federation approved Comino Ferries Co-op Limited as a new Member Society of the Federation. Comino Ferries Co-op Limited joins the Malta Co-operative Federation The co-operative offers a scheduled ferry service for passengers to Comino (Blue Lagoon) from Malta and Gozo. The society will also offer chartered services on request for domestic and commercial purposes. The co-operative's members bring together under one name years of individual experience in this sector. New changes to the composition of the Co-operatives Board
Additional changes have been made to the composition of the Co-operatives Board as published in the Government Notices Nos. 187 and 188 in the Government Gazette No. 19212 of the 21st February 2014, Link to Government Notices. On the 7th February 2014, Ms Rita Law resigned from the Co-operatives Board and Mr Emanuel Cuschieri was appointed on the Board with effect from the 7th February 2014. Consultation process for the revision of Co-operative Societies Act launched
The Ministry for the Economy, Investment and Small Business launched a consultation process aimed at strengthening the legal framework governing co-operative societies in Malta. Various information sessions were held on January 28, 2014 at Dar il-Koperattivi, Melita Street, Valletta.
