Chief Pilot. Capt. Jesmond Mifsud has been invited to address a seminar entitled "Co-operatives: A vehicle for SME growth" to be held on the 20th November 2013.  The seminar is being held as part of the SME Week Malta 2013.  Capt. A global marque for co-operatives has been unveiled by the International Co-operative Alliance. The co-operative logo, designed by a British co-operative, has been launched at the Alliance’s Global Conference in Cape Town which was attended by over 1000 people from 88 nations. Calverts, the London-based creative co-operative, was commissioned in March by the ICA to create the common identity. The Malta Co-operative Federation welcomes the inclusion of measures announced in the 2014 Budget which are aimed at strengthening the co-operative sector in Malta. These include the necessary changes in the Central Co-operative Fund regulations, the reduction of the minimum number of members required to form a co-operative from five to three, as well as changes in the Co-operative legislation, and the commitment in favour of social co-operatives and enterprises. The Malta Co-operative Federation held its 2013 Annual General Meeting at 87, St. Ursula Street, Valletta on the 31st October 2013. All the Federation’s member societies attended the meeting. The following were the elected Council Members of the Federation: Paul Chetcuti Alexander Chircop John Mallia Rolan Micallef Attard Paul Muscat During the Annual General Meeting the member societies unanimously approved to amend the Statute of the Federation.
